Today we had another new experience. We needed to get some documents notarized so we went to the US Embassy here in Tegucigalpa. When we drove up we could not believe the lines of people...just waiting to get into the door. We finally parked and found out what entrance we were supposed to use. We realized that we were to go into the main door....where all the people were waiting in line.
We needed to go to "Citizen Services" at the Embassy to get our papers notarized. As we went up to the front of the line the guard asked us for our passports. How comforting it was to be able to show the "blue" passport that proves you are a citizen of the United States of America. As we entered, checked our electronic equipment, went through security and past more lines of people we realized how blessed we are to belong to a country that so many people want to go to instead of leave.
When we got to the dental clinic the girls asked us how the morning went. We said that it was relatively easy...just took a little bit of time. They said it was because our passports were "the blue ones".
Small thing....but it really made me think today.
