RAIN.....DON'T GO AWAY

We have decided that we love rain. October and November are the rainy months in Honduras. Each afternoon we hope that the clouds will appear and we will get a downpour for a little while. I have even started carrying an umbrella just in case we get caught in rain. We don't even mind the frequent power outages.

The other day we were driving some missionaries to their apartment during such a downpour. The streets became literally rivers. We now see the wisdom of having huge four-wheel drive vehicles for the mission cars. Another night we found ourselves walking to an apartment with some Elders in the rain. After we dropped them off, Wayne and I were laughing as we made our way back to the car. It was pouring, we had an umbrella, and we were soaked. We now see why the missionaries are always having problems with their feet....they are always wet, and there is no way to have your shoes dry.

OOPS!!!

We looked on the weather report this evening and saw that there have been quite a few deaths in Honduras over the past week or so due to the rain and tropical depressions. We want everyone to know that we are fine, the missionaries are fine and that we are enjoying the rain. Remember that we are desert rats, and we probably see more rain in a week here than we get in a year in Arizona! We did see this mudslide this afternoon on our way home from Zone Conferences.
It took out the side of the mountain and a new building. It was right next to one of the main streets that goes through Tegucigalpa.

Enjoy your fall.....we are!!

Reading your blog makes me appreciate all the 'catch basins' we have around here! I guess we'd have the same problem without them, but just not as often! We can feel your great spirit as we read. We are proud of you! Things are going well here. The snow 'angels' are winging home once again, so we have larger FHE groups. It's a lot of fun. We enjoy this calling & all the great people we work with. The Sherfy's are 1/2 through their mission...hard to believe! We all pray for your safety & success & look forward to your triumphant return.
